OLD NEWS

from the Parroom Times Despatch

July 24,2008 The Red Sands Club opens. We hinted at its imminent coming and now it's here. We had been asking ourselves what we could do as a thank you to our loyal patrons who helped us get where we are now -- wherever that is. The Red Sands Club is our answer. At Historicon, Bob enrolled many of Parroom Station's long time supporters in the club.If you purchased Parroom Station Miniatures from The London War Room, either at conventions or through the post (electronic or otherwise) prior to January 1, 2008, you are eligible to become a charter member of the club. We've put up a facsimile of the certificate that is given to each member. It explains the nature of the club and the terms of membership. If you wish to present your application for membership or to ask for further details, please contact us here at the station (posting electronically to parroomstation@yahoo.com). Alternatively, speak to Bob at one of Parroom Station's convention appearances. Next up: Fall-InAs the Colonel says: "You won't regret it, old chap."
Look, look! Picture updates! For our regular visitors, we've put up more pictures of upcoming releases, including the long-awaited American Mechanified Infantry suit and the latest Extraordinary Personages. We expect to have them at Historicon. Official release announcements should start showing up soon.
June 16, 2008 More Earthmen go rogue! New releases at last are arriving at the station. Previewed at Cold Wars and now available: more Renegades of Mars. These releases have the new codes but not quite yet the new prices. Not that the latter should matter much to those who know the secret of the "Red Sands."
April 12, 2008 We've done some updating of the Parroom Station background pages, specifically L.A.S.T. and the MFS and British pages. Changes are coming. Remember "Red Sands."
March 27, 2008 Parroom Station staff survive a cold Cold Wars. Parroom Station attended HMGS convention Cold Wars in the company of our stalwart friends at The London War Room. We met and chatted with a number of our regulars, elaborating a bit on our future plans and warning them of the changes to come. Remember the code phrase: Red Sands. We also showed off samples of the next releases, which did not make it from the ethyr ship docks in time for the convention. We'll post some pictures as soom as the customs documents clear.
March 9, 2008 A new year brings new things. May they be bright and happy.

Here at Parroom Station Miniatures things have been pretty quiet since Historicon '05. Why you ask? Well, the latter part of 2005 saw much disruption due to - among other things - the infamous Katrina. We'll have to name a bandit queen after her, in memory of the time and treasure she stole.

Let us look forward rather than backward. We have consulted a number of weirdlinkers and their prognostications indicate changes in the wind. What sort of changes? Well, prices are likely to shift. Yes, that means some will go up, but other may remain stable or even drop - or at least change as package content changes, but our loyal customers can expect some relief when the inevitable happens. We're continuing to work out the details. Right now all we can get out of the weirdlinkers is the cryptic phrase: "Red Sands Club".

We also expect to reorganize our coding system to address some confusions that the ordering department reports as well as to clarify just what our resident mad genius intends with the lines. You will find a few things shifted around, a couple are going on vacation, and a few disappearing from regular distribution.

You will see our current figure lines clarified into 4 areas: Of Mars and Martians: all the Martian stuff from the core Parroom Station alternate history background. Victorian Science Fiction: the more mainstream (does that word make sense in this context?) Earth-related VSF stuff (but still including our notable Parroom Station characters that are just as at home on Earth as Mars).Victoriana: our historical officers and troops.and Heroes of Nippon: Bob Charrette's classic Japanese feudal adventurers.

And beyond that? Well, our prognosticators tell us 2008 will be a busy year for our production staff who are expecting to be pre-occupied with "real world" business, but we'll still have some new stuff. We're going to be bold and scatter some of our plans in the updated webpages. Keep your aethyrometric receiver tuned for exact details of little things like release dates.

8/5/05 Earthmen? Surely not dressed like that! Alas, they are earthmen. Earthmen gone native, aping the ways of the City Dweller Martians. Renegades, they are. Renegades of Mars. And they will be available at GenCon and subsequently through our usual outlet at The London War Room. We'll have some other new stuff too, so drop by and see us if you're in Indianapolis for the con.
7/18/05 Mechanical wonders march! The munitions works at The London War Room are opening their doors and unleashing the latest steam technology wonders from Parroom Station Miniatures.

For Historicon we will have both the American Colossus and the British Mk. 1 Battle Strider. Each one comes as a resin and metal kit with nearly a pound of metal! The colossus towers more than eight inches over the tabletop. Egad, VSF gaming will never be the same! These highly details kits have a $60 price tag, despite our accountants' insistence that we charge more. Who knows how long we can hold this price - we don't.

7/14/05 Yes, it's true. The forces of the German empire are marching on Lancaster, Pennsylvania where they hope to take Historicon by storm. Infantry, officers, artillery crews, and uhlan cavalry in a massive (for us) release from Parroom Station Miniatures. It's especially massive, because we're also releasing Japanese cavalry, artillery crews and a bugler.

Despite the blatantly historical nature of the above releases, we haven't forgotten VSF. We'll have a sergeant and a Maxim gun team for the German panzer fusileers we released at Cold Wars and we even adding (Yes, Bob Beattie) another Japanese smoke stalker officer. Plus - we told you it was a massive release - a pair of BIG surprises and maybe a few small ones as well.

Come see us at The London War Room booth or drop by one of Bob Charrette's Valor & Steel & Flesh games running Friday and Saturday night in the Colonial Room.

6/9/05

More for the Martians: City dweller forces can now be suppplied on the tabletop with the new Bottataru Pack Train (with drover). Wild Bottataru can be caught, too.

On a sadder note, we have casualties as well. Of course, these deaders are only plumbium bodies. you can use your dead City Dwellers and plorses to dress up your batlle scenes or use as morale markers with Valor & Steel & Flesh.

Cold Wars/05 Panzer fusileer infantry released in support of our Valor & Steel & Flesh battle rules
3/29/05

Parroom Times-Despatch offices ransacked. Station operations disrupted.

Rowdy elements of the local City Dwellers (reported to be adherents of the infamous sverdlinker Kay'oss) attacked PTD offices and Parroom Station itself, forcing this august journal to briefly suspend operations and bringing all activity at Parroom Station to a temporary halt. During the incursion, many important documents were destroyed or removed to parts unknown, but through the diligent and unstinting efforts of Station personnel, we are now restored to service.

New visitors to the station will notice nothing amiss, but veteran visitors will, of course, note a number of changes. The best news is that some long desired improvements have been made and every attempt has been made to modernize operations so that we can contiunue to offer the best and fastest news and service from Parroom Station. We've even been able to hint a little at the future for those sharp-eyed enough to find those clues.

3/21/05

The Cephalid menace stalks the land ...

Cephalid soldiers and personal walkers are now armed with smoke launchers to spread the terrible Black Smoke.

Also, Cephalid forces have been reinforced with another of their horrid germ plasm hybrids: a vat monster.

These all the rest of the Cephalid Menace are availble from The London War Room, as usual. (unrepentant purveyors of mayhem that they are.)

2/15/05

Halleluljah! The preview copies of Valor & Steel & Flesh, have arrived. At last, the cover for Parroom Station Miniatures's own battle game rules can be revealed.

We now await the next transport from Parroom Station, which will be carrying our stocks for general distribution. The transfer station manager assures us that our shipment will make landfall on Earth at Lancaster, PA in the United States of America, in the month of April during what is locally know as "Cold Wars."

12/6/04

From the Barren Lands come mounted nomad cavalry. Also avaliable: CDM-18 standard bearer and CDM-19 musician to give your royal regiments more of the panache they deserve.

12/2/04

10/1/04

7/18/04

It's an aeroscaph! Two, actually, as Parroom Station Miniatures adds to its available steam technology with this pair of aeroscaphs. TECH-10 is basic aeroscaph and TECH-11 is a turreted gunboat version.

6/30/04

More masked minions have left the training camps. Artillery crews and the re-inforced "In hatch" vehicle crews are now available.

5/15/04

Rising plumbium prices, increased costs of manufactury, and severe import/export duties imposed upon ethyr shipments have taken their toll. We have also reorganized our lines somewhat.

4/2/04 Alas, the time is soon upon us that we must respond. We have also been guilty of wanting to get certain pieces to market so badly that we underestimated the cost of doing so. This too must be rectified.
2/10/04 Parroom Station Miniatures is pleased to announce the return of some long missing miniatures sculpted by our own Bob Charrette. Originally, these figures appeared as official BUSHIDO miniatures and were produced by Ral Partha.
7/03 Parroom Station Miniatures has another four additions to our Extraordinary Personages. And to add to their comfort on the Red Planet, we've added a "civilized" butler to our City Dweller Civilians.

3/03 Germ Plasm Hybrids! Greshnars! Korovars! And most feared of all, the four-armed hybrids known as Wastelanders! GermPlasm Hybrids were Parroom Station Miniatures premier release at the HMGS convention COLD WARS.
1/03

12/7/03

Bob has dug out some pictures from his sculpting archive and added them to the atelier.

And he's showing off again with his new Tau army

11/03 Parroom Times-Despatch disrupted! Subtle sabotage by culprits unknown has brought this mighty crusading journal to its knees. The saboteurs, believed to be Sverdvolk sympathesizers cowardly concealing themselves among the PTD's indiginous staff, remain at large and more attacks are feared. Nevertheless, the damage resulting from the craven attack by the insidious poltroons has been repaired. The PTD's analytical engine and etheric transmitters are operational again and the long weeks of isolation are over as we now return to the airwaves. ALSO Sverdvolk armed with exotic polearms
10/21/03 It's not a tank, but a clockwork soldier. New mechanical menaces to stride the battlefield now available
8/2/03 (Aero) Naval Brigade arrives. Boarding parties, riflemen and the stalwart officers to lead them have arrived at the station. There's something speical about them. Check 'em out.
7/30/03

The Cephalid Menace: Alien horrors issue forth to bedevil Humankind and City Dweller Martian alike. Armed with ray projectors and other implements of science gone mad, the Cephalids slither forward on their way to conquest.

7/1/03 The Forces of Badness! Masked minions suitable for any dirty work required by your favorite science villain and/or criminal mastermind.
?? Unscheduled. the fickle, but impressive City Dweller rocket launchers teams were released. No doubt another example of their legendary randomness. Rocket LauncherTeams consist of three crewmen, a launcher and two rockets. Whoosh!
